University of Kentucky Specialty Pharmacy Receives URAC Accreditation

The UK HealthCare Specialty Pharmacy recently secured URAC accreditation as a specialty pharmacy—it is only the 5th health system pharmacy operation in the country to become URAC accredited! According to Chief Pharmacy Officer Gary Johnson,

“We passed URAC accreditation for our specialty pharmacy with flying colors!”

The surveyors were very complimentary of all related documentation and were particularly pleased with the integration of services offered, which includes Pharmacy, HR, Compliance, Marketing, and IT.

“This accreditation will allow manufacturers to provide UK access to additional specialty medications, enable UK to contract with larger providers, and encourages PBMs to carve UK into their networks. However, the greatest benefit is the opportunity to service the residents of Kentucky with specialty medications. In conjunction with UK Laboratory Services, we are excited to expand our specialty pharmacy offering to incorporate Genomic testing, as well as oncology and non-oncology specialty infusions.”
