ScriptPro Hosts Harold N. Godwin Leadership Legacy Reception
On April 28, ScriptPro was pleased to host a reception for the Harold N. Godwin Leadership Legacy Award, following the lecture, “Planning – An Essential Element of Leadership,” given at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Nine years ago, Harold Godwin’s residents decided they wanted to honor and recognize him for his work and accomplishments. This resulted in The Harold N. Godwin Leadership Legacy Award, which recognizes outstanding leadership and contributions to the profession of pharmacy by alumni and friends of the KU residency training programs.
The Award has become a tradition to not only recognize exceptional people in the field, but also present a platform for various disciplines of pharmacy to come together for an enjoyable and educational series of events. Godwin says he appreciates the willingness of ScriptPro to provide the reception as part of the celebration, adding that it’s a highlight of the agenda. He enjoys the partnership KU has with ScriptPro and notes that in many cases people have never seen a robot, and appreciates the technology demos that ScriptPro provides to guests.
The 2012 recipient of the award is Steven B. Cano, M.S., R.Ph., FASHP. Cano is senior director of pharmacy and chief pharmacy officer for the Cambridge Health Alliance in the Boston Metro-North region. He developed pharmacotherapy services in the patient-centered medical home setting, expanded the retail pharmacy operation, implemented around-the-clock inpatient pharmacy services with a high degree of embedded technology, and included pharmacy services in the evolving accountable care organization initiative.
The award’s namesake, Harold Godwin, is a professor and associate dean at the KU School of Pharmacy. He served 34 years as the director of pharmacy at the University of Kansas Medical Center and 20 years as chair of the KU School of Pharmacy’s Department of Pharmacy Practice. He is a past president of the American Society of Heath-System Pharmacists, the Kansas Pharmacists Association, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, and the American Pharmacists Association.
The award is presented annually during the American Society of Heath-System Pharmacists Midyear Clinical Meeting.
