Our Story
The company’s initial product, the SP 200 Robotic Prescription Dispensing System, pioneered the use of robotics in community pharmacies. Today, ScriptPro offers a comprehensive line of over 200 pharmacy automation and management system products that have revolutionized pharmacy operations in the U.S. and around the world.
ScriptPro systems operate in thousands of pharmacy settings including:

Many large pharmacy chains have standardized operations around the ScriptPro robotic model. Leading hospitals use ScriptPro systems to ensure accuracy and patient safety. Hundreds of VA, Department of Defense, and public health system hospitals rely on ScriptPro's robotics-enabled workflow to care for their patients. DoD deploys ScriptPro telepharmacy equipment at medical facilities around the world to make pharmacists available wherever needed.
ScriptPro has grown through invention and product development rather than through acquisition. It owns the core technologies utilized and manufactures, sells, installs, and supports all of its products.
ScriptPro has been honored with numerous awards for outstanding service to the pharmacy industry, its customers, and the community. ScriptPro maintains a comprehensive drug information system that has been recognized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as an important source of accurate and current information for prescription and over-the-counter drug products.
Mike Coughlin is the founder of ScriptPro, and president, CEO, and CFO of the company. His vision for “Perfect Integration” for pharmacy systems puts the company at the forefront of the industry.

Health systems are rapidly moving towards fully embracing ambulatory pharmacy programs. The benefits are huge – both for patients and for the financial well-being of the health system. ScriptPro offers a complete end-to-end solution for ambulatory pharmacy operations (see diagram below). On the left, we show interfaces with the health system EHR to receive patient, prescriber, and prescription information. The return arrow shows how dispensing history is sent back to the EHR so a central record is maintained for the patient. Every other system – from robots, point of sale, mobile and interactive voice response (IVR) applications, inventory management, 340B split billing, meds-to-beds, third-party claims reconciliation, revenue cycle management, and more – is engineered to work within a comprehensive, unified system supported by ScriptPro.

Mike Coughlin
Mike Coughlin, BS, MS, MBA, CPA, founded ScriptPro in 1994, and is president, CEO, and CFO. After receiving degrees in physics and business from St. Louis University and Ohio State University and doing preliminary research work for Bell Telephone Laboratories, Mike Coughlin started his career in Palo Alto, CA, with Hewlett-Packard where he served as Manufacturing Operations Manager for H-P's startup Microelectronics operations. A native of Topeka, KS, he returned to the Midwest in 1973 and entered into management consulting with the Kansas City office of Arthur Andersen & Co., then one of the "big five" accounting firms. As a specialist in manufacturing systems, he became a Manager in the firm and also obtained his Certified Public Accountant designation.
In 1976, Coughlin started MEC Management Company, an accounting, business development, and systems integration practice. In 1994 he founded ScriptPro, a pharmacy automation company, with the initial mission of developing the first robotic prescription dispensing system for community and outpatient pharmacies. He continues to lead ScriptPro in pioneering comprehensive hardware and software platforms that prevent medication errors and improve patient care and financial performance in over 7,000 pharmacies worldwide.
Working with industry leaders, Coughlin promotes the value of community and ambulatory pharmacy in the healthcare system. He serves on advisory boards, speaks to industry groups and political leaders, and is frequently quoted in the press on subjects ranging from pharmacy automation to business development.
I've always had a strong desire to make things work well. Whether it's running ScriptPro, manufacturing the SP 200, or developing our "perfect integration" model for pharmacies, I enjoy contributing to the mechanisms and processes that make enterprises like yours and ours really work.
