Before 1-800-PetMeds existed, owners could only buy prescriptions for their furry loved ones from the veterinarian. The founders of 1-800-PetMeds thought that pet owners should be able to buy their pet’s prescriptions from a pharmacy, just as humans do.
With the help of ScriptPro Robots, 1-800-PetMeds quickly became America’s largest pet pharmacy for dogs, cats, horses, and other domesticated pets by providing an alternative choice to pet owners for buying prescriptions and other health care products.

The demand has increased rapidly, and according to Gary, their customers have the same expectations for their pets’ prescriptions as they do their own—to receive an accurate prescription in a timely manner. Delays in the filling and therefore the distribution process are not acceptable.
“We had a pretty good idea of our limitations filling prescriptions manually. ScriptPro’s robot added efficiency to our process and we could handle more prescriptions without the need to increase people power,” said Gary.
The ScriptPro robot is part of the Team at 1-800-PetMeds. Since the company is customer-focused, the pharmacists and technicians use the time gained from the robot to work in the call center (answering customers’ questions) as well as in the dispensing area.
