ScriptPro is Giving Back – Launch of Community Connection
At the beginning of 2018, ScriptPro launched a new employee volunteer program – Community Connection. The program all started with two ScriptPro Customer Care employees who wanted the opportunity to give back to the community while also strengthening relationships with co-workers. With that, Community Connection took flight – employees are given 16 hours of paid time off annually to either volunteer on an individual basis or in a company-arranged quarterly group event.
The Community Connection employee-led steering committee conducted an internal survey to identify the types of volunteering events ScriptPro employees were interested in as well as what organizations they were passionate about. After an overwhelming response, four categories were chosen: sorting donations, event set-up, working with animals, and working with children. Each quarter the steering committee will organize a group event.
For the inaugural event, Community Connection is partnering with Harvesters Community Food Network. Employee volunteers will visit Harvesters on February 23 and sort donations. In conjunction with this volunteer event, a campus-wide food drive and online donation site was set up. The campus food drive goal is to collect and donate 640 lbs of food (equivalent to a SP 100 Robotics cabinet). On the first day of the food drive, the goal was WAY surpassed with more than 1,600 lbs of food (including money equivalent) collected! That is more weight than an entire SP 200 robot!
In Q2 2018, Community Connection will partner with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) as their first ever “Flagship team.” As a Flagship team, ScriptPro will recruit minimum of 50 volunteers and a financial gift to support PanCAN’s PurpleStride 5K. The event is scheduled for May 5, 2018, at Theis Park, Kansas City, MO. ScriptPro employee participants (as well as family and friends) will receive free registration to the PurpleStride 5K. The Community Connection Steering Committee has set a 2018 goal of 30% employee participation. Be sure to check back and see how they are progressing towards their goal.
